When Miles Meant Nothing: A Story of God’s Perfect Timing
In March 2020, our paths crossed for the first time. We didn't know then that we were meeting our future; for the next four years, we remained "just followers"—watching each other’s lives from a distance while Bela built her career in Jakarta and Samuel established his in Bermuda.
We see now that this season of silence was not a delay, but a divine preparation. God was working in our lives separately, refining our characters and preparing our hearts for a purpose greater than ourselves. Through different continents and different challenges, He shaped us into the individuals we needed to be for one another.
In late 2024, a funny Instagram story finally broke the silence. What started as a laugh quickly evolved into late-night talks and a connection that defied time zones. We realized that while we were busy making our own plans, God was orchestrating a beautiful reunion. Despite the vast Atlantic Ocean between Jakarta and Bermuda, we had found home in each other.
January 2025 marked the moment it all became real. Samuel traveled back to Indonesia to finally hold Bela’s hand and meet the families who had prayed for this moment. He left for Bermuda again in February, but this time, he carried a promise and the blessing of our parents to become husband and wife.
For a long time, our love was measured in miles and time zones, and our hearts grew heavy with the silent weight of longing. We have learned that the hardest part of loving from afar is the ache of a thousand "goodnights" spoken to a screen. But we trust in the One who holds the stars and our future in His hands. Today, the distance that once tested us now unites us. The wait is finally over, the longing has found its rest, and we invite you to witness the beginning of our greatest adventure, written by His grace.
